Format & Layout
- Font: Courier size: 12. These are the conventions for a traditional script
- A screenplay is a script with a narative in it.
- Character discriptions give information about age, looks, background
- Who uses a script: actors, camera operators, director, producer, sound technician, DOP (director of photography), Editor
- A flowchart is included in video game scripts as most games have multiple choice options
- Justified to the centre -all dialogue is in the middle of the script.
- The name of the character is always at the top of the dialogue and is usually in BOLD CAPITALS as this is clearer and easier to read.
- All scripts that include visuals will have stage/location information. This is important for the set designer as well as the producer. This information is also impoortant as ambient sound will need to be created for the location.
Three Act Script
- Made up of 3 sections (beginning, middle, end)
- Used for any scripts with a narrative.
- Link to Todarov (1977) - Hollywood scripts with a narrative are based on a 5 point structure (equilibrium, disequilibrium, resolution, new equilibrium)
- TV drama, Radio drama, Films
- Some films don't follow the traditional narrative structure, however it will still be in three stages, they just won't necessarily be linear.
